World Water Day 2022 & Zip Water
21 Mar 2022
The theme of this year’s World Water Day is ‘Groundwater – Making the Invisible Visible’. For many on the east coast of Australia, water has been anything but invisible in recent times, as we experience the worst floods since records began.
Groundwater is remains integral as it makes up almost all of the liquid freshwater in the world, supporting our drinking water supplies, sanitation systems, farming, industry and ecosystems.
However, groundwater is under threat from pollution, and one of the biggest polluters in our waterways are single-use plastics, with 85% of Australian seabirds affected by plastic pollution.
As we gear up to support the Oceans Impact Organisation – Plastic Pollution Solution Award again this year, we’re reminded of our ongoing commitment to transforming ocean health through inspiration, innovation and good business.
We’re excited to discover the next generation of thinkers and creators who share our vision of waterways without single-use plastic pollution.
Our water is a precious and finite resource and keeping our waterways free of plastic is vital to the ongoing health of our planet.
At Zip Water, our Australia based employees are encouraged to use their Zip Water KeepCup and Zip Water reusable water bottle to help reduce our consumption of single-use plastics at work.
This World Water Day, join us in making a commitment to reducing single use plastics.
World Water Day is an annual United Nations Observance, which is marked on the 22 March every year. Starting in 1993, World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2 billion people currently living without access to safe water.
