Zip Water Announces Continued Commitment to Safety and Compliance with New Engineered Stone Cutting Regulations
30 Aug 2024
As a leader in providing drinking water solutions, Zip Water is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance in all our operations. In light of new regulations introduced by Safe Work Australia, effective July 1, 2024, we are reaffirming our commitment to protecting the health and safety of our employees and customers.
The new regulations from Safe Work Australia ban the manufacture, supply, processing, and installation of engineered stone benchtops, panels and slabs. These measures are designed to protect workers from silica dust exposure. By implementing these regulations, Safe Work Australia aims to significantly reduce the exposure of workers to this substance.
Compliance with regulatory standards is a key focus of our business and, from 1 July 2024, Zip Water pre-established standards will continue to fully comply and exceed the expectations under the new regulations.
The new regulations allow for the minor modification, removal, or repair of existing engineered stone surfaces.
Zip Water will continue to offer its HydroTap installation service on qualifying engineered stone benchtops. Our specialised technicians are highly trained in handling engineered stone, equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their tasks in accordance with our up-to-date training and protocols.
Our technicians undergo rigorous training, including industry-standard HIA silica awareness courses, to stay informed about the latest safety measures related to engineered stone. These courses cover the risks associated with silica dust, the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and best practices for engineered stone handling.
In addition to formal training, we continuously communicate safety precautions and guidelines to our teams. Regular updates ensure that all staff members are well-prepared and equipped to handle stone cutting and drilling tasks.
For our customers, it is important to note that the new regulations will not impact existing engineered stone benchtops in residential homes or commercial settings, as the regulations allow for the minor modification, removal, or repair of existing stone surfaces. We will continue to deliver exceptional service, maintaining the highest standards during installations.
Our customers can trust that Zip Water is fully compliant with the new regulations and committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Our focus is always on health and safety for our staff and our customers.
As we move forward, we will continue to invest in training, technology, and safety measures to ensure our team is equipped to meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.
