Entertainers Delight

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
Set within a large, contemporary home, the design of this kitchen was carefully crafted to take pride of place within the family and entertaining zones. A new build meant plenty of flexibility with layout and that allowed Art of Kitchens to be very specific with location of services and allocation of work zones to ensure good workflow and maximum functionality.
With a love of cooking and entertaining, it was important to the client that there be plenty of space and suitable appliances within which she could work her magic but still be part of the socialising.
One of the first items specified for the new kitchen was the Zip HydroTap Classic in bright chrome. Perfect for entertaining and to satisfy thirsty children, it provides instant access to filtered boiling and chilled water. A must in any modern home, Art of Kitchens makes a point of specifying a Zip HydroTap in all its kitchen designs.
Due to the clients love of entertaining, a generous island bench and over-sized scullery provide the functionality, while dual waterfall ends in Carrara marble and a stunning monochrome colour scheme provide immediate visual impact.
The adjacent bar area is finished in Axolotyl paint and, with its LED lighting and glass cabinets, is a lovely counterbalance to the black-and-white kitchen.
DESIGN SOLUTIONS
When it came to the design of the kitchen, much time and attention was paid to the various finishes that feature within and around the space to ensure the design created a point of difference. Natural white polyurethane is showcased in the majority of the kitchen and is complemented with a beautiful black veneer on the front of the island.
A special routed door was created to surround each bank of drawers – instead of routing each individual drawer panel. This creates the impression of a complete surround and gives each bank of drawers a unique visual look. The drawers are balanced by a long line of glass-fronted cabinets at the very top of the kitchen.
Plenty of seating at the island means entertaining is a breeze with the layout designed to encourage flow from the kitchen to the dining area, family room and through to the garden and pool.
A huge scullery hides behind the main kitchen and is the perfect place for meal preparation. With an abundance of storage, it provides easy access to pantry items, small appliances, an additional small sink and a second dishwasher.
Of particular note is the long bulkhead above the kitchen. A structural element, it’s been cleverly hidden within the design of the kitchen and acts to provide a border that separates the kitchen from the adjoining spaces. The feature light above the island continues this linear theme and adds another modern element to the design.
In keeping with the crisp and clean aesthetic, six individual Pitt gas cooktops were installed while two separate ovens plus a microwave makes for the ultimate in cooking partners. Two dishwashers, two sinks and an oversized Siemens fridge/ freezer ensure that cooking for a crowd is never a problem.
