6 Sparkling water drinks to try
Chilled, filtered and perfectly carbonated sparkling water is refreshing and healthy, and endlessly versatile. While a glass of sparkling water is often just right on its own, it’s incredibly easy to elevate your game with a few simple ingredients. Why not mix things up with these delicious sparkling water recipes!
1. Citrus twist
Forget premixed lemonades and make your own lemon-lime soda from scratch.
Ingredients
30ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
30ml freshly squeezed lime juice
60ml sugar syrup (optional)
250ml (1 cup) Zip sparkling water
Method
Mix juices and sugar syrup (if using) in a tall glass. Add ice cubes and top up with sparkling water.
2. Mixed berry bliss
Gather your favourite berries and make a simple syrup bursting with fresh flavours.
Ingredients
1½ cups fresh berries, sliced or muddled
1 cup sugar
½ cup Zip sparkling water
Method
Heat sugar and water over medium heat in a medium saucepan until the sugar dissolves.
Add the berries and cook gently for around 10-12 minutes, until they are broken down and squishy – don’t let the mixture boil or the syrup will go jammy.
Mash gently to help the berries release all their flavour. Then, strain the syrup using a fine sieve. Allow to cool and store in the fridge.
Add a tablespoon to a glass of freshly poured sparkling water – add a little more syrup if you like it sweet.
Top tip! Add some freshly chopped mint leaves for a zingy twist.
3. Iced coffee soda
Too hot for coffee? Get your caffeine hit with this easy iced coffee soda. All you’ll need is equal parts espresso coffee and sparkling water. Add ice to a tall glass, add the espresso, then the sparkling water. If using a sweetener, it’s best added with the espresso. Want something milky and sweet? Add a small spoonful of sweetened condensed milk to the espresso before mixing.
4. Raspberry ginger muddle
This one couldn’t be easier. Simply mash four or five raspberries in the bottom of a glass, add ¼ teaspoon (or more if you like it spicy) of freshly grated ginger and top up with sparkling water and a splash of your favourite fruit juice. Get creative with your combinations – this technique works for any fruit that is easily squashed.
Other combinations to try:
Pineapple and strawberry
Peach and nectarine
Pear and peach
